MANUNET CALL 2020 NOW OPEN

The MANUNET Call 2020 for proposals includes all fields in Manufacturing, structured in the following topics:

  1. Knowledge-based engineering, information and communication technologies for manufacturing, including technologies for Industry 4.0 (for example industrial robotics, computer-aided engineering and design, automated manufacturing, zero defect manufacturing, product lifetime management, cyber-physical systems, IoT, control, big-data, analytics, connectivity and mobility, augmented reality, cyber security for processes, etc.).
  2. Manufacturing technologies for environmental and energy applications including resource efficiency, recycling (reuse, remanufacturing, etc) and circular economy in manufacturing processes.
  3. Adaptive manufacturing technologies including processes for removing, joining, adding, forming, consolidating, assembling and related advanced industrial machinery.
  4. Additive manufacturing (for example technologies, materials, products etc.)
  5. New materials for manufacturing (alloys, lubricants, coatings, textile fibres, construction, composites, insulation, multi-functional multi-materials etc.).
  6. New manufacturing methods, components and systems (development of demonstrators, devices, tooling and equipment, logistic systems, etc.).
  7. Other technologies, products and services related to the manufacturing field (logistic, supply chain, etc.)

Survey − Challenges in Additive Manufacturing

The survey "Challenges in Additive Manufacturing" prepared under the scope of the Portuguese national project Big FDM−Additive manufacturing for large part size (FCT, PTDC/EME-EME/32103/2017), aims to reveal the present perception of the several players of the Additive Manufacturing (AM) landscape,  and  identify the future needs regarding the production of large polymer parts with AM.

We kindly ask all the members of the AM platform to participate on the survey. In the end, all participants will receive the survey final report.

The survey will be available online: https://forms.gle/hdsxfT6tmCuEbcLB7, until the end of 2019.

New Proposal for a Collaborative Project on Additive Manufacturing of Hardmetals by non-laser Processes: AddiHM

OCSYNERGIES, the Fraunhofer IKTS Dresden, the Katholieke Universiteit KU Leuven, TECNALIA Research & Innovation San Sebastian and the Technical University of Catalonia BarcelonaTech UPC will soon launch a new Collaborative Project on Additive Manufacturing of Hardmetals by non-laser Processes (AddiHM).

The aim of this project is to establish a comparison and benchmarking of three AM processes for the production of homogeneous WC-12Co hardmetal blanks. The AM processes that will be assessed are:

  • Fused Filament Fabrication (IKTS),
  • Metal Binder Jetting (Tecnalia)
  • Direct Ink Writing (KU Leuven).

An evaluation of the final AM components will be also carried out (UPC). Amongst the scientific/technological questions to be answered are:

  • How do these AM technologies differ from each other for near-net-shape manufacturing?
  • Is it possible to realise fully dense WC-12Co parts by means of AM, with similar properties as their conventionally processed equivalents?
  • How do the 3 AM technologies perform with respect to their material processing rate?
  • Is there any substantial difference in the consolidation and sintering of AM and conventionally processed WC-Co?

The project will last 12 months and is open for participation to all interested organisations. The total budget of the project is EUR 69,900 to be shared by a minimum of six funding participants, so a maximum of EUR 11,650 per participant. Fees will decrease if more than six partners participate in the project. More information on Collaborative Projects can be found in this link and the AddiHM project proposal can be found in this link: project proposal. If you would like to join the AddiHM project or receive more information, please contact Dr Olivier Coube at This email address is being protected from spambots. The AddiHM project will be carried out in memory of Dr Leo Prakash. Dr Leo Prakash supported the idea of a European Project on Additive Manufacturing of Hardmetals and participated in several discussions with the contractors and the coordinator of the AddiHM project
