Axel Demmer has 25 years of experience in managing pre-competitive as well as bilateral industrial R&D projects at both national and international level with focus on industrial application and benefits. He is a coordinator for planning, coordination and execution of large German and EU projects. After working as a researcher in the field of laser assisted manufacturing for five years, Axel headed the Process Technology department at Fraunhofer IPT from 2000 to 2008. This included full responsibility for earnings, budget, management and strategic orientation of several national and international projects in the process technology field. Since 2008 he is responsible for the development and planning of entire research activities and strategic orientation of Fraunhofer IPT. In this context, he plans and coordinates the entire initiation, acquisition and launching phase of flagship projects (> 10 M€) on national and international levels
