This newsletter will introduce you to the process of Helmet Customisation and a rapid manufacturing procedure, which uses a high viscosity powder material, being developed by TNO in the Netherlands.
We have also included the decisions made last 23rd of November by the Competitiveness Council of the European Union concerning the Joint Technology Initiatives that have been budgeted for.
As always, we will finish with information about the upcoming events.

Er is een radicale verandering in het productieproces in gang gezet. Door middel van RM moet het mogelijk worden om functionele producten en onderdelen te vervaardigen vanuit 3D CAD. Hierdoor komen begrippen als produceren, service en distributie in een compleet ander daglicht te staan en kunnen extreem klantgerichte producten worden ontwikkeld.

Het conservenblik werd uitgevonden in 1810. Echter pas in 1870 werd een enigszins bruikbare blikopener uitgevonden. Momenteel dienen zich productietechnieken aan waarmee binnen één object verschillende materialen gemengd kunnen worden. De machines die het kunnen, komen er aan. Het wachten is nog op software om de producten te ontwerpen.

This document describes the roadmap for standardisation activities for Additive Manufacturing as drafted from the SASAM project.

The interest and attention for the development of AM standards have gained momentum. A group of over 100 industrially driven stakeholders from all over the world (with a centre of gravity in Europe) is currently active in AM. These stakeholders indicated the need and type of standards to be developed, they must be focussed on customers and market and support industrial implementation of AM. A number of standards categories were distinguished such as design, specific industrial needs, quality of manufactured parts, safety (regulations) and education.

A listing of already existing standards for AM has been drafted. Where relevant, liaisons have first been established with standardisation bodies and an assessment will be made whether further cooperation with Technical Committees will be desirable for AM topics as well. It must be noted that there is no CEN/TC on Additive Manufacturing at the moment. As part of the SASAM project it will be assessed whether the initiation
